We just love Carrots! They’re a great choice when juicing, so healthy and flavoursome!

We picked up a nice fresh bag of Organic Carrots from the local store along with a large punnet of Cranberries, the cost of all this goodness? Less that two pounds Sterling! Our Third ingredient, Turmeric root, was purchased online and costs around £20 per kilo in the UK but you can use Turmeric powder if you don’t have the roots to hand.

Carrot Cranberry & Turmeric

For the base of our Juice we chose Carrots, there are a few reasons to juice Carrots but we love them because they are widely available all year round, they cost virtually nothing, they’re fabulously healthy. With a little online research you can find plenty of people who attribute drinking Carrot juice with them beating terminal Cancer!!!

This little juice also takes advantage of one of our seasonal favourites, the Cranberry. These lovely little berries are low in Calories, low GI and are high in Vitamin C and Manganese . Cranberries also improve the health of the urinary tract.

Lastly we finished off with a couple of Turmeric roots to give the juice a potent health boost! Don’t forget to Garnish your juice with a twist of black pepper! A substance called Piperine in the pepper boosts the strength of Turmeric by several thousand percent. You can read more on that here

Steps

Prepare your Carrots

Take out the carrots and place them in a colander, under running water, wash the Carrots until you are satisfied that they are nice and clean. Remove any bad looking bits and remove the tops and tails. If your Carrots are Organic there is no need to peel them, if not we always peel our Carrots to cut back any pesticide residue.

Clean the Cranberries

Cranberries need to be washed before you juice them so it's best to put them in a colander and wash them for a minute to remove any nastiness. When you take the Cranberries out of the water, feel for soft ones as these are going off or bad, your Cranberries should be nice and hard so weed out any bad ones before you juice them.

1

Peel your Turmeric

Take out a potato peeler and cut away the hard outer skin of the Turmeric root. We don't want that in our juice so it has to go! Take care when peeling as Turmeric will stain your fingers and most likely anything else it touches.

Get Juicing!

I like to put the Turmeric in near the start of the juicing process so that all of the roots goodness is pushed through the juicer but you can do it in any order you like. Just keep pushing the produce into the chute until you've used it all up!

Serve and Enjoy!

Take your bowl of juice and give it a good stir with a fork, this helps to mix the juice together and to break up any froth on the surface. Pour equal measures of juice into two glasses and share with a friend. Don't forget to add ground Black Pepper to get the boost you need from the Curcumin.
